Description
- Built-in Bluetooth
- Flexible Charge Algorithm
- Over-Temperature Protection
SmartSolar MPPT Solar Charge Controller - A solar charger gathers energy from your solar panels, and stores it in your batteries. Using the latest, fastest technology, SmartSolar maximizes this energy-harvest, driving it intelligently to achieve full charge in the shortest possible time. SmartSolar maintains battery health, extending its life.
MPPT: Ultra Fast Maximum Power Point Tracking - By constantly monitoring the voltage and current output of your photovoltaic (solar) panels, MPPT technology ensures that every Watt of available power is transferred from the panels to the batteries for storage. The advantage of this is most noticeable when the sky is partially clouded, and light intensity is constantly changing.
Remote Monitoring and Control - Remotely control and monitor the extensive features of your SmartSolar MPPT charger with built-in bluetooth by pairing it with your smartphone or other device via VictronConnect. If your installation is connected to the internet Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) provides access to the full power of your MPPT, anytime, anywhere; both services are free to use. For remote installations - even when there is no internet connection or phone signal nearby - you may be able to monitor your MPPT by bluetooth-pairing with a LoRaWAN (long-range wide area network) device, available optionally.
• Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)
• Advanced Maximum Power Point Detection in case of partial shading conditions
• Outstanding conversion efficiency
• Natural convection cooling (except for the 150/70 and 150/85 CAN-bus models)
• Automatic battery voltage recognition
• Flexible charge algorithm
• Over temperature protection and power derating when temperature is high.
• SmartSolar models have Bluetooth built-in.
TR vs. MC4 Connection
TR = Has a "traditional" terminal block with flathead wire connections
MC4 = PV (photovoltaic) modules connect together with MC4 connectors, but the battery connection is still made with a traditional flathead screw terminal block
What size MPPT should I buy?
How to size your MPPT can be confusing, which is why Victron has developed a sizing calculator . To use it, you’ll need some information that should be displayed on the back of your solar panels. Please note – when filling out the “PV Module Temperature” min/max – you are advised to use the coldest date on record for the regions you plan to cruise in. The MPPT controller you need is based largely on the maximum Voc (voltage over circuit) which is impacted by operating temperatures. Since Voc increases as temperature decreases, it’s very important to know the coldest potential operating temperature. And while it’s okay to oversize your MPPT, an undersized MPPT will fail if the Voc gets too high – so if there’s any doubt, upsize!
